They scratch single tallies in the second and fifth, but Fried strands traffic twice and hands a 3-2 lead to a rested bullpen.
From there, New York’s relief depth—Jake Bird for the seventh, Camilo Doval in the eighth, Bednar in the ninth—outclasses a Mariners pen that has already burned Muñoz and Speier heavily this week. A two-run eighth, fueled by a Judge walk and Stanton’s ringing two-bagger off Eduard Bazardo, gives the Yankees breathing room.
